EDC Las Vegas First Music Festival to Stream in Roblox Metaverse

This weekend, 150,000 people per day are expected to attend Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas. But if you can't make it to the desert, don't fret. The dance mega-fest will also be making history in the metaverse, as the first festival to stream via the gaming platform Roblox. The digital space, called the Insomniac World Party, opened today (Oct. 20), with the festival scheduled to take place in the metaverse from Oct. 22-25. The digital experience will feature the same stages as the real-life EDC, with the music changing as attendees in the metaverse move from stage-to-stage. Fans will also be able to participate in games, check out the Camp EDC camping area and join live meet-and-greets with artists.

Artists' actual sets from the festival will be streamed on Roblox 24-hours after their in-person performances, with select artists also joining shows inside the experience. Acts will appear on the same stage in the metaverse as they did at the actual event, replicating the real-world shows in the digital space. As Insomniac World Party is a "persistent" space, it will be open indefinitely, with other events are planned for the space in the future. The intention behind adding so many games and so much music to this metaverse is to give fans something to do inside Insomniac World Party between events.

Vlassopulos notes that this is only the first of such initiatives for Roblox, adding that “We are excited to offer more amazing permanent music worlds like this one in the coming months as we continue to help the music industry engage with our global audience in new and unprecedented ways."
